If you love your family West End shows divinely funny, Disney’s Hercules is the perfect way to brighten up your 2025. It’s based on the beloved 1997 Disney animation of the same name, containing all the songs fans remember from the movie plus some new tunes to get you going. The story? Hercules is half god and half human, an uncomfortable position to be in. He never quite feels at home, so when he gets the chance to overcome evil Hades and return from earth to Mount Olympus where the gods live, he’s thrilled. The only problem? It isn’t easy going from zero to hero, even when your muscles are massive.
The lead role of Hercules goes to Luke Brady, whose previous theatre credits include As You Like It for the RSC, SuperYou at the Lyric Theatre, Assassins at Chichester Festival Theatre, and The Prince of Egypt at the Dominion Theatre. The music comes from the 8-times Oscar winner Alan Menken with lyrics by Tony Award winner David Zippel. The brand new book is by Tony Award winner Robert Horn (Tootsie) and the ex-artistic director of The Young Vic Theatre, Kwame Kwei-Armah. The fun is directed and choreographed by Tony-winner and West End royalty Casey Nicholaw (Mean Girls, The Book of Mormon, Aladdin), co-choreographed with Tanisha Scott, and it’s all set to become a monster theatreland hit.
