Theatre Royal Drury Lane

A fantastic show all round. A political and social story with its roots in recent history, linked to a love story set in an industrial shipyard. Vibrant music and powerful voices to enjoy a fab time.

This show was one of the most moving and amazing that I’ve seen in theatre for some time. The set and the actors took us completely into the story and the times in which it happened. Sting was the amazing leader in the whole story. I lived through the times when British industries were closed by the government of the time. This show described how this happened, how the workers responded and pulled together and supported each other. It is recent history brought to life and would be very good for teenagers and adults to see. The whole show stirred up my feelings, of anger, sorrow and empathy. I felt so proud of the workers and how they faced this. The show was very imaginative and excellent at putting over the story. I just wish I could have spoken to Sting and tell him exactly how it made me feel.

Special for me because I lived in that town,in that street at the same time as when Sting and his family lived there,the same ships,always being built there.I worked as a Welder in that same Shipyard.A few American's sat next to me, said they struggled to pick up on the dialect.But it seemed, more than the majority, like myself, loved it.
